This is an enjoyable contemporary romance in the vein of classic romantic comedy with a bit of suspense thrown in. Vanessa is living in the unfinished storage space above her bakery shop as she awaits it to be finished. Late one night an intruder turns up and she is so frightened, she has to find a way of defending herself.
When Vanessa smacks into Jake he can't help but wonder why she's living in the unfinished building especially since she's supposed to some from a rich family. He's also very attracted to her and knows that getting involved with would be trouble. But when her bakery gets vandalised he knows he can't keep away from her. He has to protect her. But Jake has secrets and so does Vanessa. She certainly doesn't want him protecting her.
This story is written in a lovely sensual style that you can get easily lost in. There is mystery and romance and well developed characters. Some of the scenes and dialogues are hilarious and had me laughing out loud. I could picture Gerald Butler playing Jake and Isla Fisher playing Vanessa in a romantic comedy movie adaptation.
This one comes easy to recommend to all romance lovers. Go and grab a copy.
