Hello readers. Today we're excited to have Mads Ramussen from Maybe Forever by Kim Golden in the Hot Seat for #ColorofLove2017 celebration.
You're welcome to our blog, Mads. Thank you for hanging out with us today. We look forward to delving into your mind and finding out more about you. So let's get started.
What is your idea of perfect happiness?
A cozy evening at home with Laney and the kids. That’s all I need. We
have this word in Danish—“hygge”—which is pretty much coziness. I never cared
about it before, but now when I have a family, it’s what I always want.
What is your current state of mind?
Pensive. There are a lot of things going on, things that need sorting
out and I don’t always have the right answers for all the questions. If you ask
me tomorrow, maybe I will say happy. I’m happy now, I mean. But pensive too.
What is your most treasured possession?
My tools. I work with my hands, designing and making furniture. And my
tools are my livelihood.
What or who is the greatest love of your life?
My wife, Laney, and my daughters. They are the greatest things that ever
happened to me. I can’t imagine my life without them.
What is your greatest fear?
My father lost his marriage to my mother because of his addiction
problems. He lost his relationship with me because of it as well. It took
twenty years for us to find our way back to a somewhat normal father-son
relationship. I would never want to lose the love and trust my daughters have
in me. I hate the idea of ever having a life without them.
What is the quality you most like in a man/woman?
Wow…yeah, that’s a hard question because it depends on the person. But
with Laney…what I liked most about her was how she never assumed anything. And
that she was so willing to take a chance on life with me. She didn’t know if
we’d be able to make a go of it, but she was ready to take a chance.
What is the trait you most deplore in others?
Arrogance. I have no patience for arrogant people. I don’t understand
how they can go through life as they do.
On what occasions do you lie?
I hate lying. I always think telling the truth is better than a lie.
But…if I didn’t want to hurt someone I loved, if I knew the truth would only
make things worse, then maybe I would lie. But I think the truth is always
better than a lie.
Which is your favorite word or phrase?
Øl (beer). No, just kidding. J My
favorite word is love. I’m always telling Laney that I love her…and we say “I
love you” like this in Danish: Jeg elsker
dig.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what
would it be?
Hmm. Maybe I would straighten my nose. It’s been broken twice, but I
think my wife would hate that. She says she loves my nose as it is.
